Commissions and ideas for paintings come from a variety of people and places. Inspiration comes from a love of the country, the coast and from many holidays spent in Devon, Cornwall and West Wales.
Maxine began painting over 36 years ago, whilst running a small farm and contracting business with her husband. A lifelong love of art and of painting, she began painting commissions of horses animals and people.
Although entirely self taught, she submitted and exhibited successfully with the Society of Equestrian Artists for a number of years and was recognised as an associate member, winning prizes for her acrylic works.
Commissions were regular and were from all areas of the equine industry, shortly followed by widening of the subject matter to all animals, people and places.
A number of works are now published as limited edition prints and greetings cards.
The paintings started as watercolours but her love of fine detail and strong colours meant she needed to investigate alternative mediums, oils worked beautifully but acrylics became the favourite medium of choice.
Now, based in beautiful South Devon, she is working again full time in painting and is constantly exploring new ideas and she is now enjoying bringing 'long-thought-about' ideas and inspirations to reality!
